Yesterday, hub101.earth successfully delivered our annual “An Introduction to Climate-Nature Solutions” Workshop at African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This is the second year of our education collaboration with the Academy, where we worked with student and staff to design a bespoke workshop for this young audience.

The workshop is composed of two elements:

An introduction to major challenges facing our people and planet – including global warming, biodiversity loss and pollution – followed by a closer look at solutions across climate, carbon markets, biodiversity and freshwater, where the students got to vote for which other topics to cover.

An interactive role-play session, where participants worked on delivering specific solutions – tech and nature-based – becoming key-decision makers across the public-private-civil society divide, including governments, intergovernmental agencies, businesses, investors, philanthropy, civil society and academia.

The workshop is designed to inform and share knowledge, spark their imagination, empower them to be part of the solution, engage with multiple perspectives and work together.

Our Founder & Managing Director Yuejia Peng says: “our partnership with the ALA is very special, and I’m so pleased with our collaboration to deliver this unique training to this year’s cohort. As always, we learn as much from the students and staff here as we are able to share with them. We very much look forward to continuing this exceptional partnership and inspire more young people to be part of the solutions that we all need to see.”

A special thanks to Mr. Dashen Naicker and students of the ALA Climate Connect club and the Environmental Representative for their collaboration and support.
