6th August 2024, Londonhub101.earth, an online platform for capacity building and knowledge sharing in climate, nature and people-centred solutions, has launched today.

We are facing unprecedented climate and environmental challenges globally, but we also have hope in the form of solutions – big and small. Much of this capability lies in the Global South, but many people here face high barriers to entry, under presentation and unfair terms due to a lack of access to information, knowledge and resources. This is especially true when it comes to climate or nature-based financing options, including through carbon and environmental markets.

hub101.earth aims to empower Global South policymakers, local communities, business leaders, academics, Indigenous Peoples, smallholders and youth groups with the necessary initial knowledge and resources to raise their voices and take action. Complex and inter-linked topics are introduced through bitesize modules, across a series of climate and environmental topics. Our training materials are developed by a community of experts with decades of on-the-ground and in-depth experience in climate, nature, conservation, finance and development. Our goal is to make learning easy and accessible, through e-Learning, in-person workshops and a curated library of trusted resources for further study.

Founder and Managing Director Yuejia Peng says: “We are constantly hearing about problems these days, and not enough about the solutions, especially those that harness the power of people and resources from the Global South. I founded hub101.earth for two reasons: to narrow the knowledge gap between Global North and South on climate and environmental issues, and to empower as many people as possible to drive solutions wherever they are. There is a huge amount of excellent material out there – we are not reinventing the wheel, but rather establishing the basics in a systematic way, signposting to other rich and diverse sources for further study.”
